#111: Stranded at the Drive-In
June 8, 2011
Remember back in high school when you and your friends would pile into your buddy’s car and go to the drive-in theater? Well, you would if you were hosts Scott and Melissa’s high school friends! In this episode of the Living in Las Vegas Podcast, we hear from Ellis Island Casino after our review of their property and discover the only drive-in movie theater in Las Vegas. Show notes:

#102: Tie Your Mother Down [In Elvis’ Shower]
April 5, 2011
After recovering from our Ellis Island adventure (that episode was the most watched LiLV video since the launch of the VEGAS VIDEO NETWORK), we decided to spend much of this weekend at the always-busy Las Vegas Hilton. In this episode of the Living in Las Vegas Podcast, we hang with a comedic legend, tie a mother down, and sing in Elvis’ shower. Show notes:

#95: Returning to the Scene of the Crime
February 9, 2011
Interesting topics this week. . .one casino recovers most of the 1.5 million dollars stolen from it. Another is saved from public foreclosure in the nick of time. And more than half of all homes sold in Las Vegas were paid for in cash. In this episode of the Living in Las Vegas Podcast, Las Vegas locals Scott and Melissa wonder about the mental stability of a casino thief who returns to the scene of the crime (A LOT) and talk about money and casinos. In response to our Lake Las Vegas post, our good friend Cheryl pointed me to an article in the Las Vegas Sun about Fontainebleau, the casino/resort in waiting on the Las Vegas Strip.
As the article goes on to say, the 47 permits pulled by Icahn Nevada Gaming Acquisition doesn’t necessarily mean any actual building is going to take place. According to county officials, the permits, which list a variety of projects (casino, hotel and restaurant remodelings, miscellaneous commercial structure work and parking structure modifications), could simply be procedural.
Let’s hope for the best!
(And hope the negative comments on the Sun article page are wrong.)

Just curious. . .I was wondering if the folks who visit this website or subscribe to our podcast use online blackjack guides to become a better blackjack player. Do they help when you’re playing live versus online? How about for other games like craps, roulette, and hold ‘em?
73: Hip Checks and Short Skirts - Roller Derby in Las Vegas
November 22, 2009
Call me crazy, but there’s something to be said for watching a bunch of woman whoosh around a roller rink, kicking the crap out of each other. The teamwork, the strategy, the action. . .the Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.
(At least, that’s what Tomahawk says.)
In this edition of the Living in Las Vegas Podcast, we discover the joy that is Woman’s Flat Track Roller Derby, featuring the Sin City Roller Girls. Show notes:

I saw an interesting article in the Las Vegas Review Journal a couple days ago about Internet gambling. The article said that a House of Representatives resolution was introduced in May that would “establish a framework to permit licensed online gambling operators to accept wagers from inside the United States.”
According to the article, Nevada has the “statutory structure” in place to investigate and license online gambling companies.
My questions —
- How would this effect existing online casinos?
- Would congress actually allow this to happen?
- Would this reduce visits to Las Vegas?
Whatcha think?
[8/26/09: Just learned that Time.com took down the video because of “some sensitivity with various issues”. There is a very interesting article on the Las Vegas Sun website about the fallout from the Time’s article — specifically, the Realtor quoted in the piece is in hot water.]
68: A Las Vegas Staycation with Scott and Melissa
June 20, 2009
