As I was playing around with my iPod Touch, I stumbled upon Time Magazine’s iPod-based website. The first article I found was a cover-piece about Las Vegas. It was a very interesting article. Here’s the link:

Along with the article, there was an associated video that followed a local real estate agent to two foreclosed properties, one of which was in Newport Lofts [recent blog post]. You’ve got to see this video. Half of the units are empty, according to the real estate agent. It’s startling what somebody was able to do at one of the lofts (change the locks?!?!). They sneak into house later in the video to see the shape it’s in. Here’s the video link:

Yep, we intended for this to be a quick show. The idea was, instead of one main topic, let’s quick-hit a few topics and be done in 20-30 minutes. An hour later, which included some fun back-and-forth with our live audience, this edition of the Living in Las Vegas Podcast features a great art gallery in downtown Las Vegas (at Neonopolis of all places), re-piping our entire house, watching the Miss USA preliminary competition and Melissa’s experience at Brit-Brit’s concert. Just heard that the New Year’s Eve celebration at the Fremont Street Experience will be free to local Las Vegans who have a valid Nevada ID and are at least 21 years old. They are calling this year’s festivities “TributePalooza” as there will be a bunch of tribute bands playing throughout the evening:
- Eagles
- Kiss
- Aerosmith
- Billy Joel
- David Bowie
- Queen
- Rolling Stones
- U2
If it wasn’t for the fact that we will be hosting 15 or so kids at the Whitney Villa, I think we’d be heading down that way. We spent a NYE at Fremont Street a couple years ago and had a very good time (saw Cheap Trick. . .which was the least impressive part of the evening). They will also be unveiling a new Viva Vision video, “KISS Rocks Vegas”.
Here’s the Fremont Street Experience website for all the details: http://www.vegasexperience.com/ For those traveling from out of town, tickets are $20.
