64: Dining at Wynn Encore, New Year’s Eve with 20-Somethings and Live Video

January 11, 2009

Because we enjoy having guests at the Whitney Villa, one of the great things about Living in Las Vegas is hosting/entertaining visitors when they come to town.  For today’s Living in Las Vegas Podcast, we first take our kids (who are visiting from California) to Wynn Encore for $ome fancy dining. Then, we review our New Year’s Eve party which brought in nine additional 20-somethings to the house and taught me a bit about bouncing back after puking, that some kids can drink faster than I ever could, and that if you play your cards right, you can get a secret XBOX 360 code for unlimited songs in Rock Star.  Show notes: (Now where did I put my NutriTorture snack bar. . .oh, and there is some swearing in this episode)

December 29, 2008

On January 12, 2009, the Living in Las Vegas Podcast will celebrate its three-year anniversary. Over these past three years, Melissa and I have enjoyed sharing our lives with our podcast listeners and blog readers, meeting local and far-away LivinginLV.com visitors for a drink (or two), and helping folks learn more about what it’s like to call Las Vegas your home. We never expected to turn anonymous listeners into real friends but this too has been an unexpected bonus to reaching out to y’all via our website, podcast and blog.

The feedback we’ve received during the life of this website has been heart-warming. From the good-natured teasing comments left on the website to the “thanks for helping me find a job” emails, Melissa and I want to thank all of you for sharing your thoughts with the two of us.

Now, it’s time for me to share something with you.

In reviewing the LivingInLV.com website and what it delivers to our visitors, it occurred to me that while it certainly provides some insight into the Las Vegas lifestyle, it was the insight of just two people. As I’ve had the opportunity to meet other interesting people here in Las Vegas, I thought this would be a good time to expand the editorial voice of the LivingInLV.com website to include others whose expertise are beyond mine. And so. . .

Beginning in 2009, we will be adding new LiLV Contributors to our website!

I am VERY excited about hearing from these new contributors!

Each LiLV Contributor will have a “beat”, or special focus. To begin, Cheryl Hill (a long-time LiLV listener) will focus on all things Summerlin. Brandie Feuer will keep us up-to-date on special locals-only deals found on the Strip and beyond. And Doug Geinzer will help us better understand the Las Vegas employment environment. I’m pleased that these smart folks will be joining the fun and further enhancing what the Living in Las Vegas Podcast & Blog website offers our visitors. I hope you like it as well.

If you have ideas/tips for Cheryl, Brandie or Doug, feel free to shoot them an email: Cheryl[at]livinginlv.com, brandie[at]livinginlv.com, doug[at]livinginlv.com. I’m sure they’d love to hear from you!

In the meantime, here’s hoping the rest of 2008 is a fun and safe one for you and yours. We’ll be adding other LiLV Contributors to the mix and welcome any suggestions you might have regarding other “beats” we should be writing about. Any ideas?

Thanks again for playing along these last three years (and stay tuned for another fun announcement).
